Who this covers
This policy applies to the Guitar Toolbelt mobile app for iOS and Android, and to this website at guitartoolbelt.com. Both are operated by Plastic Pal LLC ("we", "us").
What the app collects
Nothing. Guitar Toolbelt has no user accounts, no sign-in, no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs and no crash-reporting service. It contains no code that sends your information anywhere, and it does not build a profile of you or your playing.
In App Store terms, our App Privacy declaration is "Data Not Collected".
The microphone
The tuner needs microphone access to hear the note you play. iOS and Android will both ask your permission before it is ever used, and you can withdraw that permission at any time in the system settings — the rest of the app carries on working without it.
When the tuner is listening:
- Audio is analysed in real time, frame by frame, purely to work out the pitch of what it hears.
- Audio is never recorded. Nothing is written to a file, saved to your device's storage, or kept after the frame it came in on.
- Audio never leaves your device. There is no upload, no cloud processing and no speech recognition.
- The microphone follows the visible screen. It is live only while a screen that needs it is in front of you, and it stops when you move away.
What is stored on your device
The app remembers your settings so that it is the way you left it next time — your instrument, tuning, capo position, reference pitch, handedness, the last chord or scale you looked at, and your metronome preferences. These are held in your device's own app storage. They are not personal information, we cannot see them, and deleting the app removes them.
Siri and Shortcuts
On iOS, the app offers actions to Siri and the Shortcuts app — showing a chord or scale, opening the tuner, changing the tuning or capo, and controlling the metronome. Siri handles the speech; we receive only the resulting action and its parameters, which the app acts on locally and does not store or transmit. Apple's own privacy policy governs what Siri does with your voice.
Ratings and reviews
The app may occasionally ask whether you would like to rate it. That prompt is drawn and handled entirely by the operating system — Apple's App Store or Google Play. We do not see your rating or review through the app, and we are not told whether the prompt was even shown.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and, because it collects nothing, it collects nothing from children either. We do not knowingly gather personal information from anyone, regardless of age.
This website and the contact form
The site itself sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. It loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address and browser user-agent in order to serve the font files; that is the only third-party request the pages make.
If you use the contact form, or email us directly, we receive what you chose to send:
- your name, your email address and your message;
- the two-letter country code Cloudflare attaches to the request, which helps us spot automated abuse.
We use these only to read and reply to you. The message is delivered to our inbox by Resend, our email provider, and the site is served by Cloudflare, which keeps short-lived request logs for security and abuse prevention. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not pass what you send to anyone else. Correspondence is kept only as long as it is useful for support, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
Your rights
Because the app collects no personal data, there is nothing held about you to access, correct, export or delete. If you have written to us and want that correspondence removed, email info@guitartoolbelt.com and we will delete it. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR or the CCPA; we honour all of them, and we have never sold or shared personal information, because we do not have any to sell.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes we will update the date above and publish the new version here. If a future version of the app ever collects anything at all, we will say so plainly and ask before it does.
